Aikido Kenkyukai International Mita

Classes are currently held at Konan Junior High School on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8:30pm ( with some additional time required to put down and pick up the mats.

Students are encouraged to arrive between 6:45pm and 7:00pm to help put down the mats and be ready to start training at 7:00pm.

While it's preferred if everyone can arrive ready to start at 7pm, students are welcome to arrive when they can. We'd rather you join us a little late than miss a night!

Classes are led by Chris Guthrie 5th Dan,  who has studied Aikido since beginning at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, U.K., and has been training under Takeda shihan and the senior students of Aikido Kenkyukai International since migrating to Australia in 1983. He has previously taught Aikido in Melbourne, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Sydney, and continues to train with Takeda-sensei at the AKI Hombu dojo.

Cancellations are due to the recent earthquake, and Konan Junior High School helping to save electricity.

Note:

At the moment Konan Junior High School is trying not to use too much electricity to help out with the power situation in Tokyo. So we will only know if there are classes for April on  a week by week basis.

Sister Dojos

AKI Takanawa also provides classes in Minato-ku most evenings, including a ladies-only class.
